the balcony of the Blackcomb Suite, Four Seasons Resort & Residence, Whistler

best bed: Four Seasons Resort & Residences, Whistler, Canada

the elegant fireplace at Sidecut Restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort & Residences, WhistlerWhen John and I first married we aspired that all our homes would be as comfortable as a Four Seasons Hotel. My recent stay at the Four Seasons Resort, Whistler reminded me of just what a worthy goal this was! I never wanted to get out of the bed, it was completely flawless… everything…mattress, pillows (seriously considered stealing the big square ones), sheets, duvets, lighting, usb plugs, even the small alarm clock. While the room design is beautiful, they were all fully renovated in 2019, they never sacrifice functionality… closets are big, bathrooms have two sinks. L’Occitane amenities are icing on the cake. But enough about the room! The rest of the hotel is wonderful too! Think refined chalet…beautiful wood, tasteful art, fireplaces everywhere…elegant yet comfortable. And service to die for… the ski concierge who makes sure your equipment is ready in the morning and grabs it at the end of the day, the spa that heals you with a maple and stone massage (this is Canada) and the valet who finds your car when you lose your ticket. Seamless and perfect! Ideally located a bit off the beaten Whistler track  it is the perfect sanctuary. Be sure to try Chef Emen Guryel renowned rubs at the Sidecut Steakhouse.

Number of Rooms: 273 (including suites & residences)

Sweet Suite: The Blackcomb Suite, more dream apartment with unique decor than hotel room,  comes with two large bedrooms, proper living and dining rooms and kitchen. Balconies overlook the pool (trust me it’s pretty not naf) and the mountains. The master bath has a  gorgeous art deco vibe. The ideal kick off your boot and unwind space.

Favorite Thing: The What the Duck Poutine, not for its clever name, but for its amazing combination of flavors. Confit duck leg and still crunchy fries mixed with cheese curds, pickled peppers and jus topped with a fried egg. I will never eat nachos again; this is the best warm up après ski snack ever!! Available at the Braidwood Tavern.

Near By: Audain Art Museum, the base of Blackcomb mountain where the Ski Concierge awaits, 15 minute walk to Whistler Village, golf, tennis, hiking, Zip-lining, skiing, snow boarding

Amenities: spa with 14 treatment rooms, heated year round pool, hot-spring style whirlpools, steam/hammam, fitness centre, balconies on almost all rooms, fireplaces in every room, s’mores, ski & bike rental, kids activities, Braidwood Tavern Restaurant, Sidecut Steakhouse, pet sitting, valet parking
