best bed: The House Boutique Suites, Amman, Jordan

viThis the perfect upscale hotel for carry-on only travelers or those looking for a longer stay.  Each suite has a kitchenette and there is free laundry available on the 3rd floor. Opened in April 2018, The House is a great new, shockingly reasonably priced alternative to the  big chain hotels which fail to excite. Located only minutes from the trendy Rainbow Street, it is super central. The half hour walk to the Citadel offers a chance to explore  small ever active neighborhoods and local markets. Make sure to sample Kanafeh a sweet cheesy dessert.   Drinks at the poolside bar is  the perfect place to bridge the time between exploring Amman’s archaeological sites and museums and heading out for dinner. Short stay guests will not be disappointed. The House has a great concierge, room service and complimentary breakfast that even includes Nutella crepes!

Sweet Suite: The Royal Suite is the downtown apartment of dreams complete with 3 master bedrooms and  large open sitting room spread over 220 square metres and a 100 square metre deck overlooking old Amman.

Favorite Thing: I was wowed by the free laundry. I often go six weeks with only carry-on. By the end I’m pushing the boundaries on cleanliness and tired of handwashing. Still I hate to pay the exorberent prices most hotels charge.  It was so exciting to get everything clean half way through my long trip

Near By: The renowned Um Khalil’s Restaurant  is located about 15 steps from the main entrance. Rainbow Street with its trendy shops and eateries is a very short walk. Many of the top sites, including the citadel are a pleasant and safe walk away.
