The ‘Pac Rim’, so nicknamed by locals, opened just in time for Vancouver’s Olympic games in 2010. This luxurious James KM Cheng designed hotel has been racking up accolades ever since. With just reason…west coast cool blends with Asian sophistication allowing guests to experience the best Vancouver has to offer. Michelin recommended, Botanist Restaurant focuses on local ingredients; the Lounge & Raw Bar is the place to see and be seen while enjoying cocktails & sushi. Stearn & Foster beds are heavenly; spa like walk in showers & soaking tubs are in each bathroom; rooms are the height of contemporary elegance. Intuitively designed, it will NOT take you 20 minutes to find a light switch. The sixth-floor outdoor pool is a must any time of year. During the winter be sure to try the Nordic Spa…hot sauna combined with cold plunge. Let’s just say its invigorating. And a surprisingly delightful way to start a day. Service is knowledgeable & respectful yet humorous. You feel like an insider from the second the bell man asks how he can help. Finally, there are the indescribable views…sweeping, majestic & made for Gods….opt for a higher floor harbour/mountain view room if you can. The Gold Floor is worth the splurge.
Number of Rooms: 367 with 47 suites
Sweet Suite: Views, views and bigger views…The Prime Minister Suite isn’t the biggest at the hotel but location, location, location… on the corner of the 22nd floor it has views through floor to ceiling windows from everywhere… from all the rooms, the bathtub, the large private patio…it’s also part of the renowned Gold Floor for a little added luxury.
Favorite Thing: The art. The Pac Rim is an art lovers dream from the perforated steel façade, the abstract glass leaved trees of the entrance to the multiple installations of the lobby. Most of the artists have a connection to Vancouver. Some pieces are permanent, others change periodically. Some are owned by the hotel others are on loan. Ask for a tour or a brochure.
