The Pan Pacific, London

best bed: Pan Pacific, London, UK

I spent my Beatles' birthday at the Pan Pacific London...they gave me this amazing record as a gift!!Sleek Singaporean hospitality meets old London money… Pan Pacific London is a glossy, calming, quietly fabulous hotel in the middle of the City, which is to say: exactly where one needs a little calm. Set at One Bishopsgate Plaza, steps from Liverpool Street Station, the hotel opened in 2021 as Pan Pacific’s first European property. It brings the brand’s Asian-influenced sense of serenity to a part of London better known for suits, spreadsheets and people walking very fast while holding flat whites.

The building itself is thoroughly modern, but the neighbourhood is wonderfully old. Bishopsgate has been part of London life since Roman times, and nearby Leadenhall Market dates back to the 14th century. So yes, you can sleep in a state-of-the-art luxury hotel, then wander out into several centuries of commerce, gossip and possibly lunch.

Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the rooms blend English garden motifs with Asian touches; polished, soft, and not remotely shouty. Rooms are all generously sized by London standards, which means you can open your suitcase without first moving a chair, a lamp and your dignity. Rooms include Jo Loves bath products, Dyson hair dryers, Nespresso machines, hot and cold minibars, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Pan Pacific London is a very grown-up hotel: calm, elegant, deeply comfortable and dangerously easy to return to.

Number of Rooms: 237

Sweet Suite: The Pan Pacific Suite… huge, high above the City, with separate living and dining areas, butler service and skyline views. Very much a “shall we just stay in?” situation.

Favorite Thing: The wellness floor… an 18.5 metre infinity pool in the City of London feels almost indecently luxurious. Swim, steam, sauna, nap. Repeat as necessary. Massages were heaven!

Near By: Liverpool Street Station, Spitalfields Market, Leadenhall Market, Shoreditch, Sky Garden, Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and excellent City shopping.

Amenities: Straits Kitchen for Southeast Asian cooking, Ginger Lily for cocktails, Orchid Lounge for afternoon tea, and Silverleaf for those who like their drinks moody and architectural. 18.5-metre infinity pool, spa, sauna, steam room, 24-hour gym, restaurants, bars, afternoon tea, room service, Diptyque bath products, Dyson hair dryers, Nespresso machines, minibars, butler service in select suites, family-friendly amenities, pet-friendly program.
